Embossed six inch Handmade Tile

Our six inch tiles are the largest handmade tile we make as part of our general lineup of tile shapes and sizes. Larger tiles can be made but fall in the catagory of special shapes and sizes. We have tended to focus on the smaller field tile sizes for several reasons. First of all the smaller sizes tend to emphasize the strengths of hand made tile. The other reason has more to do with trends within the tile industry. In the last decade or so there has been a push for larger and larger tile formats. Although these sizes make sense in larger spaces and commercial applications the overall effect is a 'pedestrian' look which we feel may be inappropriate in many installations. The tile industry has pushed these sizes for a very practical reason. It is cheaper to make larger format tiles. Much of the expense of making tiles is in the handling of all the individual pieces. Smaller tile means more handling and a higher cost of production. We don't feel it is right from a design standpoint to let these factors take front and center in determining cultural trends. the right tile for the job is precicely that. The RIGHT tile for the job. In more intimate settings or where a more engaging design statement is required then the smaller size tile are usually a better choice.
